Neurofeedback Q&A

How does NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback work?

First off, your brain is controlled by your central nervous system. When you experience trauma or things like anxiousness, seizures, mold exposures, etc. then your central nervous system is deregulated.

Using a dynamical approach, this form of Neurofeedback helps your brain to recognize these unhealthy changes from things like listed above and train them to think or react regularly. Your brain training allows your central nervous system to repair so you can live as efficient and optimized as you were intended to!

There are sensors placed on your ears and head that will read your cortical activity 256Xs per second.

While the sensors are reading your cortical activity the Neurofeedback device is playing a relaxing nature/instrumental soundtrack that provides feedback to the brain in the form of skips or interruptions in the music.

When the brain notices the feedback, the interruption triggers the brain to observe what it just did or is seconds away from doing.   If it finds a change that can be made to bring a more optimized ability for brain functioning (possibly to heal your physical, mental or emotional wellness) then it will start to adjust and rebalance itself to help you better accomplish whatever task is at hand.  This change in "symptoms" or daily life challenges are what we like to call shifts.

What does a session look like?

Each Neurofeedback session is 33-minutes in length.

To begin the session you will sit down in a comfy relaxing place.

We will place small sensors on your ears and head to read your cortical activity (sometimes called electrical activity). While these are on your head you will listen to relaxing nature music.

While listening you may notice random “interruptions” or  spots where the music suddenly stops. These skips are normal and this stop is only for a second. This interruption is feedback or the "attention flash" to your brain.

While completing your session feel free to read a book, take a nap, or even draw/color.

What is a Shift?

A shift is a change in cortical activity within the brain.

This could mean you start sleeping better, you are less irritable, you find yourself having more energy throughout the day, or even being able to focus better within your daily task.

Who can benefit from a session?

Any one of any age can benefit from a Neurofeedback session.

If you are someone who struggles with mental clarity, lack of energy, seizures,  irritability, addiction, anxiousness, impulse control, forgetfulness, or even sleep issues, etc. you can benefit from Neurofeedback.
